UNITE The Union, Archaeology, background

UNITE The Union, Irish Archaeological Branch (RI/b5005) had its inaugural meeting in June 2014. It aims to represent archaeologists working in the Irish commercial sector. It holds meetings on a bi- monthly basis in different locations around the country. To date the branch has set up a national committee, established regional representatives. It publishes a bi-monthly newsletter distributed through email and provides advice and assistance to members. Our meetings are fairly informal, friendly and open and we are always interested in the voice of all archaeologists from new graduates to those with a lot of rough tough archaeology under their belts. We are happy to help out at archaeological events in Ireland or to speak about what we do - just email us.

Regional Reps
We have been fully recognised by a range of archaeological companies and aim to have our right to collective bargaining recognised by all companies. Recognition means that your employer acknowledge that your union representative collectively represents you and other members. It does not mean they agree with all Union rates. These have to agreed by both employer and Union.
